Sunday Morning Service - September 15, 2024 - "Divine Intervention"
Many people believe that there is no rhyme or reason to history, and that human history is just a random compilation of events—many of them sad and seemingly meaningless. However, as followers of Christ, we do not accept such a view. We believe what the Bible clearly teaches: God is sovereign over all His creation, and He is intimately involved in the lives of human beings. In the events surrounding the birth of Samuel, we see a beautiful example of God’s intervention—not only in the life of an Israelite woman named Hannah, but also in the life of the entire nation of Israel! In the midst of a broken world, God honored Hannah’s bold faith in Him by giving her the son for whom she had prayed so desperately, and also by appointing Hannah’s son to become a great prophet and leader for the people of Israel.
Because God does not change, this text calls us not only to marvel at God’s intervention in Hannah’s life, but also to trust and rejoice in the fact that He is intimately involved in the events of our lives, as well.
