Sunday Morning Service - September 22, 2024 - "Hannah's Doxology"

Sep 22, 2024    Kenny Rodgers

In 1 Samuel 1, Hannah experienced God’s grace and power firsthand. For years, she had been barren, and the shame and pain of her barrenness had been exacerbated by the fact that her husband’s second wife—who was able to bear children—flaunted this fact to provoke Hannah even more. But in His grace and in His own perfect time, God allowed Hannah to conceive and give birth to the son for whom she had fervently prayed. And how did Hannah respond? First, she kept her word and fulfilled her promise to the Lord by dedicating Samuel to serve and minister at the tabernacle in Shiloh.

Second, she composed this beautiful song of praise and thanksgiving to God.

As we read Hannah’s song of praise and thanksgiving, we are reminded of God’s glorious identity and His sovereign activities. Hannah’s doxology—though thousands of years old—still encourages us to give thanks to God for who He is and what He has done.
